Whether you are a seasoned webmaster , or a webmaster to be , welcome to the nightmare of finding a decent host !

The majority of us  find , by trial and error , the pitfalls and trials , not to mention the legal wrangles  , of choosing an inappropriate host!

      It would be wise to ask yourself , “What is your goal , what do you want to achieve  , where do you want be a year from now?”

    Or , should I say big fat scams !   Yes , that’s right scams on the internet!

  Unlimited bandwidth!

              Web  host providers  have a limited bandwidth , so how can they offer unlimited bandwidth... They can’t . Check the small print. You will get a phone call when you exceed the limit you didn’t know was there ! Don’t believe me ? Some  broadband providers , mobile phone operators, web host providers ,  promise unlimited  something , but we all know it’s not true , yet we want to believe  !   It’s a ploy to gain your sale  , they are covered by small print or they are just in another country !  They  just hope you won’t be succesful enough to use it , when you do , you pay or asked to leave or they will just restrict your site.

     Really , bad ethics , can you really trust the desperate?

       Really cheap hosting sign up .....this is  a complex one  . If you have a building full of servers with the bare minimum of bandwidth , in order to sell this business as a going concern you need to host so many websites and have so many customers . To potential buyers  , it looks like a great running business , but the new owner will have to do many improvements to make a good business  ,and in some cases , a total shutdown and sell off . Simply put , cable quality and distance to exchanges mean that Host providers must be in certain areas , more so if you expect the cable  installation to be priority upgraded and repaired by that country’s telecom operator . If a web host provider does not have the bandwidth or cannot get the bandwidth  or some customer is contracted to host a huge site  or my SQL , then all the sites hosted on that address will load at a grinding pace . Though there is nothing in the contract that specifies the exact speed you can expect you site to load , so you can expect to be stuck in your contract till it expires.  No-one will look at your site because it takes so long to load viewers will hit the esc key or the back key .Even the search engines will give up . I recently took a large supermarket owned web company to court .. I was getting a download of 3 mb/s  , and they argued that broadband  speed varies and that it was broadband none the less!  The moral is  , stick to the professionals .

     Who are you signing with?  I used to host from my old laptop via broadband home line static ip, my upload speed was  480mb/s   , you know these sites as the web address  is not a domain name but a n ip address in the address bar . My point being , how do you know  you host provider is not just some guy in his garage with a couple of servers and a high speed dsl line , that’s how fasthosts started!   

          How would you like to be spammed out of existence?   Email addresses and phone numbers are worth money if you have a thousand , these are sold as lists to sellers selling junk or worse!  So careful who you give them to.  You would be surprised what companies sell these on ! .
